Members of the AUGB Glasgow community travelled to Edinburgh to join celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain.
Founded in 1946, AUGB has supported Ukrainian communities across the United Kingdom for eight decades, helping preserve Ukrainian culture, language, heritage and community life while representing generations of Ukrainians who have made Britain their home.
For members of AUGB Glasgow, the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate that history while reflecting on the role local branches continue to play today.
Since its establishment in 2015, AUGB Glasgow has developed into a year-round community organisation delivering educational, cultural, social and community programmes for Ukrainians across Greater Glasgow. Its work forms part of the wider tradition of organised Ukrainian community life in Great Britain.
Being a member of AUGB Glasgow is therefore about more than belonging to an organisation. It means becoming part of a history built by generations of Ukrainians, while helping ensure that this community, its culture and its traditions continue for future generations.
The anniversary celebration in Edinburgh brought together members of that wider AUGB community and marked an important milestone in its history.
