On 25 August, AUGB Glasgow took part in the international Empowered UA Film Marathon with a special screening of the documentary Empowered.
The screening formed the third and final event in AUGB Glasgow’s three-day programme marking Ukrainian Independence Day. It offered the community another way to speak about Ukraine — through its people, culture, creativity, resilience and determination to continue creating even in the most difficult circumstances.
As part of AUGB Glasgow’s wider cultural work, the event brought people together not only to watch a film, but also to reflect on the power of storytelling, documentary cinema and artistic expression in shaping how Ukraine is seen and understood.
The evening created space for thoughtful engagement with contemporary Ukrainian experience and showed how film can become a meaningful way of connecting community, culture and international solidarity.
By joining the Empowered UA Film Marathon, AUGB Glasgow became part of a wider international initiative highlighting Ukrainian voices and creative strength.
